Bisseck is wanted by several Premier League clubs, according to the report, including Aston Villa, West Ham and Manchester United. Spurs have been pushing the hardest for his signature, however, and Inter may be prepared to let him go after an inconsistent 2024-25 campaign. Inter could ask for Dragusin to head the other way to fill the void.

DID YOU KNOW?

The talks to appoint Fabregas could hold any deal up, with the report stating that Inter's new coach will have the final say on whether to allow Bisseck to leave the club. Dragusin made 28 appearances in all competitions last season for Tottenham but is stuck behind Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven in the pecking order and could be allowed to leave.

£51m star wanted under Abramovich now a "massive" target for Chelsea again

Chelsea are now seriously pursuing a Premier League star who was also highly thought of at Stamford Bridge during the Roman Abramovich era, with Blues recruitment chiefs holding a real admiration for him behind-the-scenes.

Chelsea set to invest in new forward signings this summer

A lot of rumours this week have centred around a possible new midfielder coming in to bolster Enzo Maresca’s engine room, with Man United starlet Kobbie Mainoo believed to be a serious target for Chelsea.

Chelsea are also lining up an offer for Sunderland star Jobe Bellingham, according to some reports, but the club are still widely expected to significantly invest in the acquisition of a new high-profile forward.

Chelsea didn’t bring in a prolific new centre-forward in the January window, which was seen as a mistake at the time, with Noni Madueke, Marc Guiu and Nicolas Jackson succumbing to injury soon afterward.

BlueCo will be eager to ensure that Maresca does have a reliable number nine to call upon once we reach the beginning of 2025/2026, a season where Chelsea could be competing in the Champions League for the first time in years.

Chelsea are among the main contenders to sign Benjamin Sesko, while links continue to surround the likes of Viktor Gyokeres (Sporting Lisbon) and Liam Delap (Ipswich Town), who are all enjoying excellent campaigns right now.

However, with uncertainty now surrounding Jadon Sancho’s long-term future at Chelsea, not to mention Mykhailo Mudryk after his failed drugs test, it is believed they’re identifying targets for the wing position as well.

Chelsea have been sporadically linked with a new winger, but Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo is now climbing up their transfer shortlist.

Antoine Semenyo scores for Bournemouth

The former Bristol City star has racked up nine goals and five assists in all competitions under Andoni Iraola this season, attracting attention from big clubs, and Chelsea were thought to be real fans even during his days at Ashton Gate.

Antoine Semenyo emerges as "massive" Chelsea transfer target

That is according to reliable journalist Simon Phillips, who wrote via his Substack this week that the Ghanaian was a target during the Abramovich era, with Chelsea even thinking about making contact at the time.

Semenyo has impressed for the Cherries since then, with BlueCo and the Chelsea recruitment team also thought to be major admirers of his. Indeed, it is believed that Semenyo is now a “massive” target for Chelsea, as they also consider moves for his Bournemouth teammates Illia Zabarnyi and Dean Huijsen.

“We’ve heard that Chelsea are now tracking versatile attacker Antoine Semenyo for a potential summer move,” wrote Phillips.

“There has been extensive scouting of late, and our top source tells us that Semenyo has now become a ‘massive’ target for the club. The 25-year-old, who can play on either wing as well as a central striker or a second striker, has been tracked by Chelsea for many years and was first scouted under the old ownership.

Antoine Semenyo for Bournemouth.

“When the new owners came in, they continued running the data on Semenyo and tracking his progress closely.

“The former owners actually seriously considered a move for the attacker when he was at Bristol City and went as far as making contact. But nothing came of that and the player then of course moved to Bournemouth.

“But the Ghana international is now a player that the new recruitment team at Chelsea really like and are impressed with not just his quality but also his physicality.”

If the west Londoners are serious about striking a deal for the versatile attacker, Bournemouth could demand a fee of around £51 million.

Raza shines as Zimbabwe edge Ireland out in dramatic finish

Brilliant catches, dramatic shifts in momentum and a lucky inside edge – Zimbabwe’s last-ball win against Ireland had it all in a game that had you on the edge of the seat for the last few overs.Sikandar Raza put on a clinic with both bat and ball to lead Zimbabwe to victory in the first ever international match under lights at the Harare Sports Club and a 1-0 series lead against Ireland. The pace trio of Richard Ngarava, Blessing Muzarabani and debutant Trevor Gwandu would be hailed as equally important heroes in their dressing room, but not for what they did with the ball.Raza picked up three wickets to restrict Ireland to 147 before navigating the chase with a composed 42-ball 65 with wickets falling at the other end and some heated exchanges from Ireland fielders. He himself fell in the 19th over – thanks to a diving catch from Paul Stirling at cover – with Zimbabwe needing 11 off 9 and all the established batters back in the dugout. The equation went down to nine off the final over, and when Ngarava and Gwandu managed only three runs off the first three balls, Ireland seemed to have edged ahead. But Ngarava found a boundary with a leg-side swipe to make it two needed off two.Sounds simple? Well, not simple enough. The momentum shifted again when Mark Adair ran back from short third to hold on to a blinder, landing on his neck after a full sumersault in the process and walked off. That left Muzarabani on strike, with two runs needed off the last ball. But to Ireland’s dismay, the No. 11 got an inside edge that beat Lorcan Tucker to give Zimbabwe the two runs they needed to seal a dramatic win.

Raza steers the chase

Ireland dominated the powerplay with both bat and ball, but Raza was key in bringing Zimbabwe back in the game in both innings.Defending 147, Ireland started tightly with the ball and Tadiwanashe Marumani was out early, chipping Barry McCarthy to mid-on. Josh Little then had Sean Williams chopping on in next over to put Zimbabwe further under the pump.Raza helped inject some momentum into Zimbabwe’s innings with back-to-back boundaries to end the powerplay. When spin came on, Wessly Madhevere reverse-swept George Dockrell for four but was out after one ball, exposing his stumps and missing his scoop.Raza and Ryan Burl kept Zimbabwe ticking, and the momentum seemed to shift in the 12th over when Raza deposited Gareth Delany over midwicket and Burl powered a drive past long-on in a 13-run over.Josh Little kept Ireland in the game with an economical spell•Sportsfile via Getty Images

But Craig Young threw a spanner in the works with two wickets in two overs. He bounced Burl out, with the batter top-edging a pull shot for Tucker to grab. Young struck again when debutant Brian Bennett ended up hitting aerially towards mid-off and Harry Tector completed a stunning take running to his left and leaping to pluck the ball out one-handed.Raza seized control back, getting to his 12th T20I fifty before stepping it up. After top-edging Adair for four, he hit a six over fine leg off McCarthy to start off a productive 17th over. Clive Madande pulled McCarthy for a six and four to make it a 20-run over to put bring the asking rate down to run-a-ball.At that point, Zimbabwe looked set to see Ireland off without much trouble, but Little castled Madande before Adair dismissed Luke Jongwe and Raza in an excellent penultimate over.

Balbirnie gets Ireland off to a flyer

Andy Balbirnie got Ireland off to a rollicking start, hitting Ngarava for three fours – including two gorgeous cover drives – in the first over.He then took Muzarabani on, slapping him over point for a four and a six. Stirling then welcomed Gwandu to international cricket by hitting him for three back-to-back fours as Ireland raced to 38 for no loss in three overs.Muzarabani then slowed Ireland’s innings down with some off-pace deliveries. Ngarava reaped the benefit of the pressure created by the quiet over as he returned to trap Stirling in front with a low full toss.

Spin squeeze from Raza and co.

Raza brought himself on immediately after the powerplay and made instant impact by knocking Balbirnie over with a ball that spun in to beat his sweep shot and take his leg stump.Ireland struggled to keep the tempo up against spin as Williams got in the act. He beat the batters with two beauties in his first over – the tenth of the innings – and got in the wickets column in his next as he had Tucker caught at backward point. Raza then picked up his second wicket of the night by bowling Curtis Campher.Only 53 runs came off the eight consecutive overs of spin after the powerplay, and the pressure told as Muzarabani castled Dockrell with a clever offcutter to leave Ireland on 108 for 5 with five overs to go.Raza had his third when he trapped Tector in front with a sidearm delivery that pitched on leg stump, and looked to be sliding down, before straightening to pin him on the front pad. Adair was the next to go, trying to go for a big shot downtown off Ngarava only to pick out long-on.Muzarabani’s slower variations brought him another wicket off the next over with McCarthy offering a simple catch to point. Delany helped Ireland go past 140 with a 20-run final-over, which saw him hit two sixes down the ground – including one that hit the roof.

Why the FA Cup semis are played at Wembley as Palace and Forest book trips

The answer is a rather boring one: money. In fact, it was decided back in 2003 – during the new stadium’s construction – that semi-finals would be staged under the famous arch to help pay for the new ground.

Wembley first hosted the semi-finals in the early 1990s, including derbies between Arsenal & Tottenham Hotspur and Sheffield United & Sheffield Wednesday.

The last season before Wembley was knocked down (1999/00) also saw two semi-finals in the capital, with Aston Villa and Chelsea prevailing before the Blues repeated the trick in the final.

Now something of an annual tradition, Wembley hosts a pair of semi-finals across one weekend each season, though it is not without its opposition.

Firstly, football purists will argue that Wembley should be saved for the showpiece event of the final, while there are occasionally geographical factors to consider, particularly when two northern sides are paired together.

This year’s draw meant that there would only be one London representative in the last four, with Crystal Palace taking that berth after seeing off Fulham in the only all-London quarter-final tie.

It seems unlikely things will change any time soon, given the semi-finals have been staged at Wembley for 18 seasons and counting, especially with the ground filling up with passionate supporters no matter who’s involved.

'Satisfied' Shahbaz Nadeem retires from all cricket in India

The move is aimed at allowing himself to play T20 leagues around the world

Rajan Raj05-Mar-2024India and Jharkhand left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem has announced his retirement from all forms of cricket in India. The move is with an intent to participate in T20 leagues around the world, including the legends competitions.”I was considering this decision for a long time and now I have decided to retire from all three formats,” Nadeem told ESPNcricinfo. “I always feel that if you have some motivation [to play for India], then you always keep pushing yourself to perform well. However, now I know that I may not get a chance in the Indian team and so, it is better I give a chance to the young cricketers. I am also planning to play in T20 leagues around the world.”Related

Nadeem, 34, picked up 542 wickets in first-class cricket, including eight in two Test matches for India. He made his Test debut in Ranchi against South Africa in 2019 and had to wait close to two years for another one, which turned out to be his last. He played for Delhi Daredevils from 2011 to 2018 and Sunrisers Hyderabad from 2019-2021 in the IPL, picking up 48 wickets in the competition. Ahead of IPL 2022, he was picked up by Lucknow Super Giants but did not play a game.”I always keep emotions aside while taking decisions,” Nadeem said. “I have been playing with the Jharkhand team for 20 years. Even though we have not been able to win the Ranji Trophy, we have made a strong team that makes the knockouts of Ranji Trophy or other domestic tournaments every two-three years. As a result, no one takes the Jharkhand team lightly now. I feel it is time to pass this task on to the young players, and I am sure they will trophies in the future.”

Nadeem started playing for Jharkhand at 15 and it wasn’t until 30 that he got an India call-up. He was the leading wicket-taker in the Ranji Trophy in 2015-16 (51) and 2016-17 (55). He finished the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2018-19 with 24 wickets, the most, and that included a List-A record spell of 8 for 10 against Rajasthan.Nadeem was the Player of the Match in Jharkhand’s win in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2010-11 final and that remains on of his most memorable games. “Apart from winning the Vijay Hazare Trophy, the most memorable game for me would be the one against Rajasthan. But nothing can be more special that playing for India. As I look back at my career, I feel I should have achieved much more in my career but I am satisfied.”Nadeem specially thanked his childhood coach, Imtiaz Hussain, and said, “He is the person who taught me how to bowl. Even today I take advice from him about my bowling. I will also never forget how much S Rahman of Indigo Club helped me. Because of these people and my family, I have continued my journey on the cricket field for so many years.”Nadeem is the third Jharkhand player after Saurabh Tiwary and Varun Aaron (only red-ball cricket) to announce his retirement in this Ranji Trophy season, where he picked up 23 wickets, the most for Jharkhand.

Liverpool now racing Real Madrid for £42m "beast" who Jurgen Klopp loves

Liverpool are now racing Real Madrid to the signing of a promising defender, and one who former manager Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of, according to reports.

Reds pursuing centre-back with Van Dijk future uncertain

Virgil van Dijk’s future at Anfield remains very much up in the air, with the Dutchman yet to commit to a new contract to extend his stay at Anfield beyond the end of the season.

Losing his captain will be the last thing Arne Slot wants in the summer transfer window, particularly with Trent Alexander-Arnold also seemingly on his way out, with a move to Real Madrid looking increasingly likely.

As such, the Reds will have to remain proactive in the transfer market, in order to make sure they are not left reeling by a potential Van Dijk departure, and one replacement they have in mind is Ajax star Jorrel Hato.

Liverpool could sell their answer to Bellingham after receiving £50m bid

Arne Slot may want to take the bold move toward green-lighting this Liverpool star’s summer sale.

ByAngus Sinclair Mar 31, 2025

AFC Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen is another name on the shortlist, following the Spaniard’s breakout season with the Cherries in the Premier League, although there will be competition for his signature from Real Madrid.

Huijsen is not the only centre-back Liverpool may have to battle Real Madrid for, however, with a report from Sky Sports revealing the two heavyweights are both interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie.

A report from Spain has since gone into more detail about the pursuit of Hincapie, stating the defender has a market value of around €50m (£42m).

The 23-year-old has been linked with a move to Anfield in the past, at which point it was revealed Klopp is a big fan, but it could be very difficult to fend off Madrid in the race for his signature.

"Beast" Hincapie could be an excellent signing

The Ecuadorian has predominantly featured at centre-back throughout his career so far, but his versatility would make him a useful signing for Liverpool, given that he can also play at left-back, which is another area Slot is looking to strengthen.

The aforementioned report makes it clear Real Madrid are also considering a move for Ibrahima Konate this summer, however, and should Van Dijk decide to move on, signing a new centre-back is likely to be a priority, with the Bayer Leverkusen star fitting the bill.

The Esmeraldas-born defender places in the 85th percentile for tackles per 90 over the past year, when compared to his positional peers, and he is ranked among the best tacklers in the Bundesliga, given his rate of success this season.

Hincapie has proven he could be an excellent signing for Liverpool this summer, but their first priority should be to seal a new deal for Van Dijk, given that it would be extremely difficult to replace the 33-year-old.

Dirty Harry gives the tournament its marquee moment

Suffering from stomach cramps, the India captain gave the first standalone Women’s World T20 what it needed in its very first match

Melinda Farrell in Guyana10-Nov-2018It was a pleasant summer Saturday evening at North Sydney Oval and a decent crowd had filtered in to watch the Sydney Thunder host the Melbourne Stars in the Women’s Big Bash League. In its second season, the tournament was fast gaining traction.Set 148 for victory, the Thunder had lost their first two wickets for 60 runs. Making her debut in the WBBL – the first Indian to play in an overseas T20 league – Harmanpreet Kaur walked to the crease. Only serious fans of women’s cricket in Australia knew who she was. The WBBL was raising the profile of female players but Harmanpreet wasn’t even the most famous Indian player – Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami were surely more recognisable.Still, It was Harmanpreet walking out to the middle and taking guard. And it was Harmanpreet who produced the shot that stunned the world. With impeccable timing and strength that belied her slender frame, she gracefully met a Gemma Triscari ball on one knee and launched a lofted drive over the deep extra cover boundary. Triscari burst into incredulous laughter. Commentators flew into raptures. Anyone who followed women’s cricket was agog. Sure, sixes were becoming more common in the women’s game, but were more often the result of a slog sweep in region of deep midwicket. Women just didn’t hit sixes like that.Harmanpreet scored an unbeaten 28-ball 47. It wasn’t quite enough. The Thunder fell short by six runs. The Stars’ Emma Inglis won the Player-of-the-Match award. None of those things are particularly memorable. But those who saw that shot don’t forget it.

In the sweltering Georgetown heat, Lea Tahuhu was bowling fast. Really fast. She had sent both of India’s openers back to the dugout: Taniya Bhatia beaten by pace and seam, deflecting the ball off her pads onto the stumps and Smriti Mandhana flat-batting a pull that looked sure to be six but was snaffled brilliantly by Hayley Jenson at the midwicket boundary. ****

Harmanpreet has many hashtagable nicknames: the #Harmonster, the #Harmanator #HarmanpreetPhwoar #KaurBlimey. All convey in their own way the open-mouthed joy that comes with watching her at her unfettered best. Some call her Harman for short, but her team-mates call her Harry. Perhaps it should be preceded by ‘Dirty’; it would be fitting if she muttered to hapless bowlers, “You’ve gotta ask yourself one question: ‘Do I feel lucky?’ Well, do ya, punk?” before firing balls at targets in the stands. But here in Georgetown her pistols were holstered by nerves early on. They weren’t helped by the fact that she hadn’t quite felt right on the morning before the match. The first 13 balls she faced netted just five runs. On the 14th, she jettisoned the jitters and charged down the pitch to Jess Watkin, belting the ball into the stand beyond midwicket. On the last delivery of the over she attacked again, but didn’t quite middle it. Not that it mattered; another six, this time over long-off.After running two in the following over, Harmanpreet turned and dropped to the ground. As she lay on her back holding her mid-riff while the physio ran on to the ground and Jemimah Rodrigues looked on with concern, the concerned muttering flittered around the stadium. Harmanpreet didn’t train the day before the match and there was talk of possible back problems. But the not-quite-right feeling had developed into stomach cramps which could hardly be helped by the hot and sticky humidity. Harmanpreet realised that running twos was not helping, so she did what only the best and most confident players can do. She told Rodrigues to give her the strike whenever possible and she would make sure she didn’t have to run between the wickets so often. What followed was a monstrous display of timing and power hitting. There were delicate dabs, too, and canny finesse as she carved through the New Zealand field with all the accuracy of a teppanyaki chef dicing tuna.New Zealand had chosen a bowling attack they thought suited a Providence pitch that was expected to be low and slow, but actually offered decent pace and bounce. Harmanpreet treated both pace and spin with disdain. According to Cricviz, she averaged a lazy 9.75 runs per over against pace and a crushing 13.20 against spin.Helping her was the fact that Rodrigues was holding up her end of the bargain by finding the boundary regularly and saving her captain’s legs or, rather, stomach. When her fine innings ended on a 45-ball 59 with a stumping, Harmanpreet had the ball on a string. The slog-sweeps, the pulls and, of course, those rockets over extra cover where women were never supposed to be so strong. It was an innings that called to mind her demolishing of Australia – a breathtaking unbeaten 171 that propelled India into the World Cup final last year. When she brought up her century in the final over she barely celebrated, a quick hug of Veda Krishnamurthy, a briefly raised bat to the dressing room and the crowd, many of them schoolchildren who will undoubtedly remember this day.And two balls later it was over, an edge behind leaving her total to stand at 103 off 51 balls. The New Zealand players, knowing they had an Everest to climb, offered up applause as Harmanpreet walked off, greeted by a standing ovation from her team-mates.This is the first standalone Women’s World T20. The tournament needed a marquee moment and it got one in the opening game, thanks to pistol-packing Harry. As the other Harry might say: “Did she fire six shots or only five? Well, to tell you the truth in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself.”

Outshone by Sterling: Arteta must axe Arsenal star who dropped a 3/10

Mikel Arteta opted to play what was effectively a b side for Arsenal’s Champions League second-leg game against PSV Eindhoven and got the sort of result and performance you’d expect from such a decision.

The Gunners were already 7-1 up on aggregate going into the match and all but through the quarter-finals, so it would be hard to describe the display as all that surprising.

The 2-2 scoreline was probably just about a fair enough reflection of the encounter, as both sides had chances to claim victory.

Moreover, while some squad players made a good account of themselves, like Raheem Sterling, others probably played themselves out of the lineup for Sunday.

Sterling's performance vs PSV

It’s no secret that this season has been something of a disaster for Sterling, and so going into last night, it was potentially the last chance he’d had to show Arteta that he still has something about him, and while the circumstances made it a bit of a nothing match, that’s what he did.

For what felt like the first time in months, if not the entire campaign, the Chelsea loanee looked full of life, and even though it didn’t pay off every time, he was trying to make things happen whenever he got the ball.

The Kingston-born star provided the assists for both goals and could have scored two of his own thanks to a well-timed run in the first half that left him one-on-one with the keeper and then a determined drive late in the second half that saw his close-range effort saved by the keeper once again.

The 30-year-old left an impression on GOAL’s Sean Walsh, who awarded him an 8/10 at full-time, writing that he worked ‘extremely hard’ for his two assists.

On top of the praise from the press, the experienced dynamo’s statistics also make for great reading, as in 94 minutes of action he amassed a combined expected goal and assists figure of 0.80, provided two assists, took two shots on target, played three key passes, created one big chance, took 47 touches and made one interception.

Overall, while Sterling almost certainly won’t feature in the lineup at the weekend, that won’t be because of his display last night, which might not be the case for one of his teammates.

The Arsenal starter who's played themselves out the team

Unfortunately, while the game wasn’t all that bad, and the result was ultimately meaningless, a few starters likely played themselves out of contention to start on the weekend.

One of those players was Jorginho, who had an uncharacteristically poor night in the middle of the park for the hosts.

The Italian ace was entirely ineffective in attack and utterly hopeless when it came to the more important defensive side of his game, switching off and losing his runner for Ivan Perišić’s goal and then losing the ball entirely for Couhaib Driouech’s impressive lob.

Unsurprisingly, Sean Walsh was equally unimpressed with the former Chelsea man, awarding him just a 3/10 on the night, a rating more than validated by his statistics.

In 94 minutes of football, the 33-year-old amassed an expected assists figure of just 0.04, completed just 86% of his passes, made no key passes, failed to take a single shot, failed 100% of his dribbles, lost 100% of his ground duels, lost the ball 11 times, committed one foul and made one mistake that led directly to a goal.

Ultimately, while Sterling put in arguably his best performance in an Arsenal shirt last night, Jorginho put in one of his worst in some time, and we wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t start a game again for a while.
