In the most anticipated award of the season, Aaron Judge edged out Cal Raleigh to win his third AL MVP. Both Judge and Raleigh each had exceptional campaigns, but Judge nabs the award after leading the league with a .331 batting average, 1.144 OPS and hitting a fourth-best 53 home runs.
Shohei Ohtani wins MVP for the fourth time and has now won either AL or NL MVP in three straight seasons. Ohtani takes MVP unanimously after hitting 55 home runs, third in MLB, and recording a 2.87 ERA and 62 strikeouts after returning to the mound this season. Ohtani is the second player in MLB history to win MVP more than three times in a career, joining Barry Bonds, who has a record seven MVP wins.
Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz was named the AL Rookie of the Year over finalists Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony and teammate and shortstop Jacob Wilson. Kurtz led all rookies with 36 home runs in 2025, 15 more than any other rookie this season. Braves catcher Dake Baldwin claimed the NL Rookie of the Year award over finalists Brewers third baseman Caleb Durbin and Cubs right-hander Cade Horton.
The Brewers’ Cinderella season didn’t quite end the way they hoped when they were swept by Los Angeles in the National League Championship Series, but manager Pat Murphy has been named the NL Manager of the Year. Murphy has won the award for the second year in a row after leading his team to the No. 1 seed an MLB-best 97-65 record.
Like Murphy, Guardians manager Stephen Vogt has won back-to-back AL Manager of the Year awards. Vogt wins the award after Cleveland pulled off an incredible comeback by erasing the Tigers’ 15.5 game division lead to end up winning the AL Central.
After winning Rookie of the Year last year, Paul Skenes has upgraded to winning his first Cy Young award. The Pirates ace posted a 1.97 ERA during his second season, the best in MLB. Skenes also threw 216 strikeouts, tied for fourth in the league.
In the American League, Tarik Skubal takes home his second consecutive Cy Young award. The Tigers ace finished second in the league in both ERA and strikeouts, with a 2.21 ERA and 241 strikeouts. Skubal earned 26 of 30 first-place votes, while runner-up Garrett Crochet earned the other four.
Along with these awards, Mookie Betts was named the winner of the Roberto Clemente Award during the World Series.

Arsenal are planning to sign a new striker this summer. It’s their principal priority. There’s just cause for excitement in regard to Eberechi Eze and Noni Madueke, but such bids won’t be in lieu of a new number nine.
But we can’t deny that it’s taking its time. The summer saga has centred on RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres, who is expected to leave Sporting Lisbon but has been left dismayed by his outfit’s stance on his leaving fee.
BBC Sport understand Arsenal have yet to find a breakthrough with Sesko or Leipzig, while the 27-year-old Gyokeres might indeed prove too expensive.
Advancements with either forward may well occur in the coming weeks, but the Gunners may well turn to an alternative option ahead of the beginning of pre-season.

Why Arsenal want Ollie Watkins
The issue with both Sesko and Gyokeres is that neither boasts experience in the Premier League – and that’s an important part of determining who’s the right pick.
In Watkins, Arsenal would sign a player who is proven at the very highest level, having scored 75 goals and provided 36 assists across 184 Premier League matches, who bears the stylistic qualities befitting a Gunners talisman – indeed, skills found in the game of both Sesko and Gyokeres.
But the same could be said for a former star in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who signed for Arsenal in January 2018 for £60m – level with Villa’s asking price for Watkins – and went on to score 92 goals and provide 21 assists across 163 appearances, a remarkable run of prolific performances that led to triumph in the FA Cup too.
In his pomp, the Gabonese icon was electric, intelligent and as clinical as you like. The right-footer also found success when peeling off the left, which is a role Watkins has played many a time for Unai Emery’s side.
The Three Lions star might be a goalscorer first and foremost, but he’s also a well-rounded forward, having ranked among the top 3% of positional peers across Europe’s top five leagues in 2024/25 for assists and the top 19% for progressive carries per 90, as per FBref.
Moreover, he’s something of a veteran at 29, which is similarly the case with Aubameyang, who joined the Premier League aged 28 and hit the ground running, calling upon all his experience and athleticism to post ten goals and four assists over his opening 13 matches in the division.
While Watkins is coming off the back of a campaign that left something to be desired, he still scored 17 goals and chalked up 14 more assists across all competitions, with his exploits rightly seeing podcaster Rohan Jivan name him “one of the best CFs in Europe.”
This is certainly underscored by his impressive track record (across all competitions) against the Premier League’s historic ‘big six’, having notably bagged six times over 11 matches against Arsenal, a statistic that will no doubt dredge up some off-putting memories for the club’s fanbase.
They say that if you can’t beat them, join them, but in Arsenal’s case, if they can’t stop Watkins from scoring, why not just sign him?
There is, of course, more to it than that, but Watkins’ goalscoring record against high-level opposition does underscore his suitability.
That and a consistent goalscoring record that would see Arsenal return to the striking success of old, when Aubameyang last plied his trade in an Arsenal shirt.

And though Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have been out injured for a while, neither boasts the true clinical edge needed.

The Daily Record reported earlier this summer that Celtic cooled their interest in the striker, after they failed to sign him in January and last year, ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.
Kvistgaarden is now reportedly closing in on a move to Championship side Norwich City, having turned down the chance to sign for Ligue 1 outfit Lens.
What Kvistgaarden could have brought to Celtic
If the Hoops had managed to secure a deal for the forward this year, or last year when they were interested, then they could have had a lethal centre-forward option in the Scottish Premiership.
However, it would have been a gamble for the club because he has yet to prove himself outside of the Danish top-flight, in which the striker has been fantastic.

Why Celtic should sign Bojan Miovski
The Hoops were linked with an interest in the former Aberdeen man earlier this summer, and they should press ahead with a move for the Macedonia international to bolster their squad.
Miovski could be an even better striker than Kvistgaarden for Celtic because he has already proven his quality in the Premiership, and shown potential in European competitions.
The left-footed marksman scored 32 Premiership goals in two seasons with the Dons, in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 campaigns, whilst Kvistgaarden has only scored 25 Superliga goals in the last two terms combined.
This shows that Miovski has proven that he can score goals more frequently than the Danish forward whilst already proving himself in the league that Celtic play in.

The Macedonia international has also scored two goals in five Conference League games and two goals in two Europa League qualifiers, whilst Kvistgaarden has never scored above the level of Conference League qualifiers.
This suggests that Celtic could have more confidence in Miovski’s ability to deliver on the European stage, given what he has achieved in his career, which is another reason why he could be an even better centre-forward option for the club.
The Girona striker, who was once dubbed a “complete number 9” by journalist Josh Bunting, has the experience in Scotland to be able to hit the ground running for the Hoops, making him an ideal target.
Kvistgaarden, meanwhile, has never played in Scotland and there are no guarantees that he would adapt to the league, which is not a concern that they would have about Miovski.

So it just provides a few more challenges, whereas Perth, for example, it's not humid, the ball doesn't swing as much, doesn't necessarily seam as much as well."I always just love the Gabba as being the place for the touring team to be able to come in and have to try and just take on the Australian conditions at their most challenging."The 'Gabbatoir' had been an Australian stronghold for decades, with Australia boasting a 16-2 win-loss record in Tests in Brisbane in the last 20 years. But the fortress has been breached of late. West Indies claimed an upset 8-run win in January, while India famously clinched the 2020-21 series by handing Australia their first Test defeat at the Gabba in 32 years. The ground is also coming towards the end of its use for life with CA only signing a two-year agreement to play Test matches there with doubts over the Gabba's viability beyond that as Brisbane requires upgraded infrastructure to host the 2032 Olympic games.

Their on-field batting performance on the opening day in Sydney was just as chaotic after Rohit Sharma dropped himself in a nearly unprecedented move in Indian cricket and Jasprit Bumrah took over as captain. Scott Boland led the line for Australia, returning staggering figures of 20-8-31-4. His metronomic accuracy and mastery of length, with the new ball as well as the old one, was too much to handle for India’s batters. He hardly bowled a bad ball and kept generating sharp seam movement off a lush-green Sydney pitch that also offered variable bounce.Mitchell Starc had gone too full in search of swing in the first over while Pat Cummins erred on the shorter side with the new ball. Boland, though, located the perfect length in his first over and never veered away from it. By then, KL Rahul had already been dismissed for 4, having chipped a leg-stump half-volley from Starc straight to Sam Konstas at square leg in the fifth over. Shubman Gill, who had replaced Rohit in India’s XI, started well but his innings was cut short at 20 when he advanced at Nathan Lyon only to offer a catch to slip off what turned out to be the last ball before lunch. Gill has reached 20 three times in four innings on this tour but hasn’t passed 31.Virat Kohli could have been out first ball, but he survived by the skin of his teeth. Boland had Kohli wafting an outside edge to second slip, where Steven Smith dived low to his right and appeared to have grabbed the ball close to the ground before somehow scooping it up to gully, where Marnus Labuschagne completed the catch. After much rocking and rolling, Joel Wilson, the TV umpire, deemed that the ball had touched the ground before Smith lobbed it to Labuschagne.Kohli then left the next ball and 16 more balls before Boland sucked him into nicking another one, with Webster holding onto this chance with his bucket hands at third slip. Kohli has been dismissed seven times in this Border-Gavaskar series and all his dismissals have followed a pattern: edging behind to the keeper or the cordon. It was also the fourth time in six Test innings that Boland had bested Kohli.Kohli had gone to great lengths to avoid this pattern – he had ditched his open stance for a more side-on one – but it proved unavoidable as he fell for 17 off 69 balls.Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja briefly repaired the innings with a 48-run partnership for the fifth wicket in 25 overs before Boland damaged India again, this time with a double-blow. He first had Pant splicing a pull to mid-on, and next ball he had Nitish Kumar Reddy, India’s hero from the MCG Test, caught at second slip for a duck. Pant had played an unusually subdued knock, managing 40 off 98 balls. After having been caught on the boundary in both innings at the MCG – his failed first-innings scoop drew particularly severe criticism – he sat back and relied more on his defensive technique. In a rare show of aggression, however, he stepped out to Webster and launched him over the sightscreen for six. It was only the sixth boundary for India in 46 overs.The depth and skill in Australia’s attack meant there was no breathing room for India’s batters. Webster, the allrounder who had switched from offspin to medium-pace during Covid-19, put in a tidy shift, coming away with figures of 13-4-29-0, and his slip catching was even more memorable.Starc and Cummins then took care of India’s lower order. Despite battling back issues, Starc cranked it up to 147kph and discomfited India’s batters, using the uneven bounce to his advantage. He first pinged Pant on his bicep and left him with a bruise before knocking him on his helmet. Pant copped a number of blows on his body during his painstaking stay.Ravindra Jadeja’s vigil (26 off 95 balls) came to an end when Starc pinned him lbw. Cummins then wrapped India up for 185.Bumrah had some fun with the bat, clubbing his way to 22 off 17 balls. He had more fun with the ball when he struck with the final ball of the day. He celebrated it animatedly by spinning around and advancing at Konstas, the non-striker, who had been involved in a fiery exchange with him moments before Khawaja’s dismissal.
