da cassino: It's been an interesting few years for Tottenham Hotspur.
da apostaganha: Just a couple of seasons ago, the fans were being subjected to incredibly dull and pragmatic football at the hands of Antonio Conte, and now they are being entertained by the thrilling, albeit occasionally naive, football philosophy of Ange Postecoglou.
The North Londoners produced the sixth-highest expected goals figure in the Premier League last season, per Understat, and with the addition of Dominic Solanke, we wouldn't be surprised to see them rack up even more chances this year.
However, the Englishman has already missed two games this season and should he miss anymore, the goalscoring burden will likely fall to Richarlison, who has shown glimpses of real quality here and there but was outscored by a former Spurs flop last season.
Richarlison's recent form
Spurs paid Everton around £60m in the summer of 2022 to secure Richarlison's services, and in the two years since, it would be fair to say that he hasn't had the best of times.
In his first season with the club, the Brazilian international could only muster up a measly return of three goals and four assists in 35 appearances, meaning he maintained a poor average of a goal involvement once every five games.
However, following Harry Kane's departure last summer, the Nova Venécia-born poacher was given more goalscoring responsibility, and to his credit, he improved upon the previous campaign.
For example, in his 31 matches for Postecoglou, he scored 12 goals and provided four assists, so while he wasn't a goalscoring machine, he did maintain a far more impressive average of a goal involvement every 1.93 games. That said, while Richarlison improved, he was still outscored by a former Spurs flop who left the club five years ago.
Vincent Janssen's 23/24
The player in question is Dutch striker Vincent Janssen, who regularly features in the lists dedicated to Tottenham's worst signings under Daniel Levy.
Tottenham flop Vincent Janssen.
The Heesch-born poacher joined the North Londoners in the summer of 2016 from Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar for around £19m.
While that might seem like a lot of money for a player who struggled as much as he did, it's because in the season prior, he racked up a frankly ridiculous haul of 32 goals and seven assists in 49 games, equating to an average of a goal involvement every 1.25 games.
However, things didn't work out for him in N17, and he left the club three years later to join Mexican giants Monterrey for £8m, with just six goals, four assists, 42 appearances and one loan spell in Turkey under his belt.
In Mexico, the 22-capped international scored 24 goals and provided five assists in 93 appearances. While that's not exactly spectacular, it was enough to earn him a move back to Europe in 2022 to play for Belgian side Royal Antwerp, where he won the league in his first campaign.

Janssen maintained his reasonable form into last season and racked up 17 goals and six assists, just beating Richarlison's total. However, the caveat here is that the Jupiler Pro League is obviously not on the same level as the Premier League.
Ultimately, while Janssen has gone on to rediscover his goalscoring touch in Mexico and Belgium, Tottenham were certainly in the right to sell him when they did, and it was in the best interest of everyone.

Australia’s teenage quick had success in the Ashes with a fuller length and feels stronger at the crease as she prepares for her first major tournament

Teenage quick Darcie Brown is hoping to use her short ball judiciously in the upcoming women’s 50-over World Cup as she prepares to shoulder the load as Australia’s main strike weapon in her first global tournament.Brown, 18, has played just eight internationals for Australia including four ODIs but heads to New Zealand on her second overseas trip as Australia’s fastest bowler after Tayla Vlaeminck was ruled out of the tournament with stress fracture in her foot.Brown made her international debut on her first tour of New Zealand in March last year but has enjoyed an excellent summer with the Australia squad. She produced starring performances in two of her four ODIs so far claiming 4 for 33 in Mackay against India and 4 for 34 in Canberra against England.Brown admitted her bowling craft had developed over the summer as evidenced by her four-wicket haul against England, where she did most of the damage with fuller length balls targeting the stumps as opposed to the short barrage she gave India.Related

Tayla Vlaeminck ruled out of ODI World Cup with stress fracture
“I’ve been trying to actually bowl a bit fuller and then use the short ball as an actual weapon rather than, especially in the India series, I was bowling some short pies,” Brown said. “But I guess with consistency and getting stronger, it’ll be better. It all depends on the conditions in the pitch.”We’ll assess that on game days and stuff like that. But definitely always keep it in the back pocket for a variation.”Brown said her body was feeling good after a long summer which featured two international multi-format series and a full WBBL campaign with runnner-up Adelaide Strikers. She was rested from the final two ODIs of the Ashes series. But she credited some important pre-season strength training as part of the reason why she has remained in good health across a long season.”I’ve been working really hard, especially this pre-season on my core strength,” Brown said. “It’s probably a really important aspect in fast bowling.”The start of pre-season I couldn’t really hold a 20-second plank, but now I can hold it a bit longer, thank goodness. So yeah, I’ve been working on that and especially lots of side stuff. Lots of fast bowlers get side strains and what not. Just a lot of injury prevention in that sort of aspect too.”I feel so much stronger at the crease and I guess that shows with how much more consistent I’ve been. I’m still not quite there yet. But I suppose you can compare it to last season, it’s a lot better. Hopefully we’re just on the up and it’ll just keep getting better.”Brown has enjoyed the mandatory seven-day hotel Managed Isolation Quarantine (MIQ) the Australia team has had to endure on arrival in New Zealand as a chance to rest and recover. Australia and England, who were quarantined in the same hotel, were let out of MIQ on Thursday, three days earlier than expected after the rules were changed from a 10-day isolation to seven. The two squads now get a lengthy build-up into their first match of the World Cup against each other on March 5 in Hamilton.Brown revealed she was nervous about playing in her first major tournament but felt that her experience of debuting in New Zealand last year will help calm her a little bit.”It’s good to have some experience going into the World Cup now,” Brown said. “I’m still pretty nervous because it is my first World Cup but probably a bit less nervous than I was last time I was here.”

da esoccer bet: There are just a few days remaining before the summer transfer window slams shut, and as things stand, Tottenham Hotspur fans have a lot to be happy about.
da jogodeouro: Daniel Levy and Co have signed a plethora of talented players, from young prospects like Archie Gray, Wilson Odobert and Yang Min-Hyeok, who could go on to become superstars to first-team ready and Premier League-proven level raisers like Dominic Solanke.
However, the decision to extend Timo Werner's loan deal for another campaign still feels like a slight mistake, as while he wasn't dreadful last season, he was underwhelming and isn't going to help the club reach the next level this year.
Tottenham's Timo Werner.
Interestingly, the Lilywhites were linked with a player who'd be an ideal upgrade on the German earlier this month, who has been compared to Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.
Werner's Spurs spell
In the January transfer window this year, Spurs needed to bring in some more attacking reinforcements, as following a rapid start to the season, they were starting to falter. So, Levy and Co turned to former Chelsea attacker Werner, who had fallen out of favour at RB Leipzig.
The club agreed to a six-month loan with an option to buy at £15m, hopeful that Postecoglou's aggressive style would help the 28-year-old regain the incredible goalscoring form that led to his initial transfer to Stamford Bridge in 2020.
However, instead of a game-changing attacker who scored for fun, the North Londoners ended up with a fairly useful winger who was as profligate as everyone remembered and ended up getting injured before the end of the campaign.
Spurs forward Timo Werner.
Now, it's important to stress that the 57-capped German was not terrible for the Lilywhites. In fact, his tally of two goals and three assists in 14 appearances was perfectly serviceable. But therein lies the problem: he's simply okay.
The Stuttgart-born ace has scored 15 goals or more only once in the last four seasons, and based on his displays last year, it doesn't look like he is going to this season either.
Spurs forward Timo Werner
So, if he's not good enough to take the club forward, bringing him in for another season seems counterproductive, especially when the club was linked with someone far better already this summer, someone compared to Martinelli and Saka: Kingsley Coman.
How Coman compares to Martinelli and Saka
The player in question is Bayern Munich star Coman, who was touted for a move to N17 last week for a fee around £34m, or potentially even on a season-long loan.
The "complete" winger, as dubbed by former France U17 coach Patrick Gonfalone, is an incredible talent, and while last season wasn't his best campaign to date, he still racked up five goals and three assists, while the season prior saw him chalk up nine goals and seven assists.
With that said, most football fans are more than aware of how talented the former Paris Saint-Germain dynamo is, but where do these comparisons to Saka and Martinelli come from?
Well, aside from the positional similarities, which are plain to see, these specific comparisons stem from FBref, which compares players in similar positions across Europe's top five leagues, the Champions League and the Europa League, then creates a list of the ten most comparable players for each one, and in this case they concluded that the Brazilian is the number one most similar attacking midfielder or winger to the Bayern ace, while the Englishman is the seventh.
The easiest way to see these similarities for yourself is to examine their underlying numbers to see where they rank closely. For the former Ituano gem, it's in metrics such as non-penalty expected goals plus assists, actual non-penalty goals plus assists, short passing accuracy, crosses and ball recoveries, all per 90.

When it comes to the Gunners' number seven, he ranks closely in a number of other underlying statistics.

Now, there are also similarities beyond the raw stats that the former Juventus gem shares with the two Arsenal stars, such as his goalscoring and creative abilities.
Ultimately, while Werner isn't a dreadful player, he's not good enough to help Tottenham progress this season, and while the fans don't like them, the fact Coman has been compared to Saka and Martinelli is just another reason why Levy and Co should look to bring him in before the window closes on Friday night.
Spurs could take Maddison to new heights with late move for £50m PL star
The incredible midfielder would perfectly balance Postecoglou’s team.
da stake casino: It has certainly been a busy few months of the transfer window for Manchester United. The Red Devils have brought in four new signings and sold several players in order to reshape the squad as Erik ten Hag looks to improve on a poor campaign in 2023/24. United finished eighth last season, and although they won the FA Cup, will be hoping to improve on their league finish.
da heads bet: The 13-time Premier League champions have particularly strengthened at the back. They brought in Bayern Munich duo Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt for a combined fee of around £60m, with young 18-year-old French centre-back Leny Yoro also signing for the club from Lille for around £52m.
Leny Yoro for Man Utd.
Joshua Zirkzee also signed for the Red Devils from Bologna for just £36.5m, strengthening up front. The two clubs agreed a fee slightly higher than his release clause, but are paying the deal off over three years. If rumours are to be believed, then Manuel Ugarte will be the next signing through the door, with United finally thought to be close to agreeing a deal with PSG.
These signings have all helped reduce the average age of United’s squad, adding to an exciting young core that Ten Hag has built in the two and a bit seasons in the hot seat at Old Trafford, which includes breakthrough talent Kobbie Mainoo.
Mainoo’s breakthrough campaign
The 2023/24 season was an extraordinary campaign for 19-year-old academy graduate Mainoo, who rose to stardom in a United side that struggled to find consistent form. He quickly became a first-choice midfielder under the Dutch manager.
Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo
In fact, the youngster’s performances were even rewarded with a place in the England squad for Euro 2024. That was a competition in which he eventually became a starter for Gareth Southgate’s side, who suffered heartbreak in the final against Spain.
The Stockport-born wonderkid played 32 games for the Red Devils last term, overcoming an injury he picked up in the 2023 preseason to become a prominent player for Ten Hag. He scored five goals, including a winner in the FA Cup final against Manchester City and a stunner against Liverpool in the Premier League.
Mainoo showcased exemplary skills on the ball last season, demonstrating superb close control in tight areas and quick feet. That is certainly something reflected in his FBref numbers; per 90 minutes, the Carrington graduate averaged 2.81 take-ons and on average, completed 1.58 of those take-ons. For both of those metrics, Mainoo ranks in the top 7% of midfielders in Europe.
Despite being just 19-year-old is incredibly composed on the ball and has a real eye for a pass. The England international plays with astounding maturity for someone who has played only a handful of first-team appearances.
Fellow Carrington prodigy Marcus Rashford praised the young England international for such an attribute. United’s number 10 explained that “nothing seems to faze” Mainoo, and noted that he is “composed and confident in his abilities”, which is perhaps why he has seemed so easy-going during his extraordinary rise to the top in the past 12 months.
One thing that United have struggled to find is a permanent partner for the 19-year-old. Ugarte is one option and is a player who seems destined to join the club, but the Red Devils have recently been linked with another player who could become Mainoo’s dream partner.
Man Utd target Brazilian midfielder
The player in question here is Fluminense and Brazil international midfielder Andre. The 23-year-old has been the subject of transfer interest from many clubs in Europe over the past 18 months, and the transfer rumours continue to roll along.
According to a report from TNT Sports earlier this week, the Red Devils are now the latest club to show an interest in signing the midfield maestro before next Friday’s transfer deadline. The report suggests that negotiations are ongoing between the Old Trafford club and Andre’s representatives.
andre-trindade-premier-league-liverpool-transfers
However, United are not the only club currently interested, with Wolverhampton Wanderers also believed to be in talks with his agent about a move. However, neither club are believed to have made an offer for the midfielder, who could cost around £30m, the price Fulham were quoted for his signature earlier in the summer, although that deal fell through.
The in-demand talent has played a crucial part for Fluminense so far during the 2023/24 season in Brazil. He has featured 28 times in all competitions, including 11 in the Brazilian Serie A. Frustratingly, a knee injury kept him out of the Copa America over the summer.
Andre Trindade with Fluminense teammates.
Indeed, the Brazilian could prove to be the ideal partner for Mainoo. He thrives in a double pivot and would offer defensive security to the young England international, who could then look to drive forward and influence the game in the final third, where he really excels.
That is certainly reflected in his FBref numbers from the 2024 season. Andre reads the game superbly well and averaged 3.57 tackles and interceptions in the Brazilian Serie A, and a very impressive 7.42 ball recoveries per game, which ranks him in the top 3% of midfielders.

His off-the-ball quality is certainly very clear to see, but the youngster also thrives on the ball. He is a wonderful progressive passer, and averages 5.87 per 90 minutes, which ranks him in the 77th percentile of midfielders. He retains possession superbly and ranks in the top 5% of midfielders for passes completed per game, with 60.86 on average.
United certainly need a long-term target for their young starlet in midfield, and Andre could offer the solution to their solution. His impressive work rate out of possession, coupled with his quality on the ball, could be the perfect blend to pair with Mainoo, who would not be shackled with as much defensive responsibility as he has previously been.
Andre Trindade
Football talent scout Jacek Kulig described Andre as a “jewel”, and for just £30m, United might well look to bring him – ahead of Ugarte – to the club as the man to get the best out of their gem of a talent, Mainoo.
